=====Biography=====
===== Early life and family =====
Eldest son in a military family, the son of a well known Air Force Colonel Michael Ford Hartley II. Striving to follow his father's footstep, Leonard joined the Osean Air Force Academy. He was a promising recruit in his academy days, and was expected to be a renowned combat pilot in the future. However, fate decided otherwise.
===== Military service =====
Graduated top of his class, he earned the callsign "Sting" after he got stung by a scorpion during a ground training session. He was assigned to the 12th Fighter Wing, 62nd Fighter Squadron "Mad Mantis" in 1994.
==== Belkan War ====
During the opening days of the Belkan War, OAF 62nd Fighter Squadron ran into the 52nd Tactical Fighter Squadron "Rot" of the Belkan Air Force and Leonard was shot down on his first sortie. He managed to eject out of his damaged plane, but was captured by the Belkan Army upon landing. He spent the rest of the war as one of the first POW of the war. Upon being released, his father disowned him upon returning and left him to his own. Leonard stayed in the OADF for another year before hanging his wing due to constant humiliation by his peers. After retirement he found a job at a repair shop in Oured.
==== Sotoan Conflict ====
In early 1999, An acquaintance contacted Leonard regarding a mercenary work in Sotoa. Still wishing to prove himself, Leonard accepted the offer. Carrying with him his service callsign and emblem in hopes that his reputation will one day reach his father.
Records after July 1999 is unavailable.
