-**Sotoa**, officially the **Islamic Republic of Sotoa**, is a country on the western end of the [[Verusa|Verusan Continent]]. It consists of the mainland on the continent and the [[~KotIslands|Kot Islands]] to the west. It is bordered to the east by [[SaunnuKhalij|Saunnu & Khalij]] and [[Al-Arbae|Al-Arbae]], to the southeast by [[Longana|Longana]], and to the south by [[Taso|Taso]]. Its capital and largest city is [[~Aghrar|Aghrar]].
-Evidence of human activity in Western Verusa dates back to 2000BC, though oral history suggests earlier settlement. The first societies inhabiting modern-day Sotoa were the Tasem-Huyt to the north, Kap-Rec Kingdom to the west, and Bakin-Teku to the east. By 1400, major kingdoms arose across the continent - those within Sotoa's current borders were the Kap Kingdom, Aksamite Empire, Gaob Confederation, and Muzdahir Sultanate. In the [[Maabal|Maabal]] Desert taking up much of Sotoa's current landmass, nomadic peoples maintained largely isolated societies - engaging with trade with the rest of the continent.
